A Word from our Happy Customers
A Brief History of The Woodlands, Texas
The Woodlands began in the early 1970s as a visionary master-planned community created by energy pioneer George P. Mitchell. Launched in 1974 on former timberlands north of Houston, it was designed to blend neighborhoods, schools, parks, and jobs within a natural forested setting. Over the decades, The Woodlands grew through distinct residential “villages,” a robust trail and park system, and a business core that attracted medical centers, corporate campuses, and retail. The Town Center and the scenic Woodlands Waterway anchored a vibrant commercial and cultural scene, highlighted by The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. Today, The Woodlands—governed by The Woodlands Township—retains its original “live, work, play” vision: a community known for top-rated schools, lakes and greenbelts, and a thriving economy, all while preserving the wooded character that inspired its name. Perfect for busy families and professionals, it’s a place where convenience meets natural beauty.
